Syntheses and Crystal Structures of Hg(II) and Cd(II) Complexes Derived from a Bis(pyridylurea) Ligand

Abstract: A bis(pyridylurea) ligand(L) was synthesized from the reaction of bis(2-aminophenyl) ether with 4-isocyanatopyridine. HgCl2 and Cd(ClO4)2 reacted with L to give two coordination polymers {[Hg(L)Cl2]·2DMF}n (1) and {[Cd(L)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2·4DMF·2H2O·2CH3OH}n (2), respectively. The ligand was characterized by 1H NMR, MS, FTIR, and elemental analysis. The structures of the ligand and two complexes were analyzed via single crystal X-ray diffraction, and the structural analysis indicated that both complexes show a one-dimensional chain structure. Their thermal stabilities and vapor adsorptions for MeOH were further investigated.
