Abstract: Two newly designed complexes, {[Ni(L1)(n-propanol)]2(OAc)2Ni}·2(n-propanol) (1) and {[Ni(L2)(n-butanol)]2(OAc)2Ni}·2(n-butanol) (2) derived from tetradentate Salamo-type chelating ligands (H2L1=5-methoxy-2,2'-(ethylenedioxybis(azomethine))diphenol and H2L2=4,4'-dinitro-2,2'-(ethylenediyldioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne))diphenol) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and UV-Vis spectra, Hirshfeld surfaces analyses and single crystal X-ray crystallography. X-ray crystallographic analyses showed that complexes 1 and 2 are all symmetric trinuclear Ni(Ⅱ) complexes. Nickel(Ⅱ) in both 1 and 2 is hexa-coordinated, forming a twisted octahedral geometry. Both crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis indicate that 1 and 2 form stable one-dimensional chain and two-dimensional supramolecular structures, respectively, by intermolecular hydrogen bonding.
