| Abstract: Phenylsulfides were readily oxidized by sodium perborate(NaBO3·4H2O) in glacial acetic acid medium to the corresponding sulfones in good to excellent yields. The reaction may be used in the presence of various other functional groups such as OH, COCH3, CO2CH3, CONH2 as well as cyano to give only sulfide oxidation. |
