Abstract: The title compound [CuI(PPh₃)(bpy)] was synthesized and the structure was determined by X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to monoclinic system, and C2/C space group. The cell parameters are a=28.206(5)Å, b=9.447(2)Å, c=19.025(4)Å, β=90.51(3)°, V= 5069(2)Å3, Z=8, Dc=1.601 g·cm^-3. The Cu atom is in the center of the distorted coordination tetrahedron.
