Abstract: TiO2 nanoneedles sol with particle size of 10~15 nanometer was synthesized by hydrothermal method using peroxo titanic acid as the precursor, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB) as the surfactant. The product was characterized by XRD, TEM, HRTEM and selected area electron diffraction(SAED). The results show that the as-prepared products have high crystallinity and grow along the c-axis, with homogeneous morphology and good monodispersity. In addition, TiO2 hydrosol possessed good photocatalytic activity for the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange aqueous solution under the sunlight illumination.
