Abstract: The title compound {[(p-MeC6H4CH2)2Sn]2(O)(Cl)OC2H5}2 was synthesized by the reaction of bis(p-met-hylbenzyl)tin dichloride with KOH in ethanol. The crystal structure of the complex has been determined by X- ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to monoclinic, space group P21/c with a=1.114 0(19) nm, b=2.423 1(3) nm, c=2.521 1(3) nm, β=99.398(3)°, V=6.714(16) nm3, Z=4, Dc=1.493 g·cm-3, μ(Mo Kα)=15.94 cm-1, F(000)=3 024, R1=0.049 9, wR=0.101 7. The crystal structure shows that the coordination geometry of tin is a distorted trigonal bipyramid, and the ladder-like structure is shaped by three Sn2O2 planar four-membered rings. CCDC: 639682.
