Abstract: Two coordination polymers of [Ni(BImC)2]n (1) and [Mn(BImC)2]n (2) (BImC=5-benzimidazolecarboxyla-te) have been hydrothermally prepared by the reaction of M(CH3COO)2·4H2O (M=Ni, Mn) and HBImC, and char-acterized by IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction structural analyses. 1 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, and the space group is Pbcn, with the crystal cell parameters a=1.234 1(4) nm, b=1.519 2(5) nm, c=1.516 7(5) nm, and V=2.843 6(17) nm3, Z=8, R1=0.046 7, wR2=0.103 5. 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic system with space group P21/c, a=1.747 3(6) nm, b=0.387 84(14) nm, c=2.242 4(8) nm, β=112.556(4)°, V=1.403 4(9) nm3, Z=4, R1=0.042 8, wR2=0.103 0. Complex 1 displays a distorted (4, 4) two-dimensional layer structure. Complex 2 shows a three-dimensional network formed from one-dimensional chains by N-H…O hydrogen bonding interactions.
