Abstract: Cd(OH)2 nanorods were prepared with CdCl2·2.5H2O solution and NaOH solutions in a U-shaped cell separated by anodic~aluminum oxide(AAO) template by means of negative and positive ions electromigration. The obtained products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction(XRD), thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The morphology of the products was affected by lasting time of the electrodeposition and the concentration of CdCl2 solution. The optimal experimental condition was: potential of 2 V, the electroposition time of 60 min, the concentration of CdCl2 solution of 20 mmol·L-1 and the NaOH solution concentration of 40 mmol·L-1. The nanorods were 150~260 nm in diameter and up to about 3.5 μm in length. After the calcination of cadmium hydroxide nanorods at 350 ℃ in air, the cadmium oxide nanorods were obtained.
