Abstract: In this paper, spherical nano-sized particles on the amidoxime fiber surface have been successfully synthesized through a fast and easy coordination-reduction method. The particles have also been characterized by means of IR, SEM, XRD, XPS and EDS. The IR and XPS result shows that Pt(0) was chelated to fiber by chemical bonds. SEM shows that spherical Pt metal particles uniformly distributed on the fiber surface. The characteristic diffraction peaks at 39.99°, 46.48°, 67.90° of XRD pattern are in accordance with Pt standard card (PDF No.04-0802), which demonstrates the particles on the fiber surface is indeed Pt. EDS mapping has also fully proved this point.
