Abstract: A novel 2D coordination polymer of [CdCl2(obbm)] (1) (obbm=1,1′-(2,2′-oxybis(ethane-2,1-diyl))bis(1H-imidazole)) has been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is of triclinic, space group P1 with a=0.732 12(11) nm, b=0.970 57(15) nm, c=1.053 34(16) nm, α=91.765(2)°, β=98.197(3)°, γ=110.749(2)°, V=0.690 10(18) nm3, Dc=1.875 g·cm-3, Z=2, F(000)=384, Goof=1.039, R1=0.026 1, wR2=0.069 0. Complex 1 shows a novel two-dimensional (2D) layer network with the (6,3) topology and further extended into a 3D supramolecular structure through C-H…Cl hydrogen bonding interactions. In addition, complex 1 exhibits strong photoluminescent emission at room temperature. CCDC: 742051.
