Abstract: Zinc complexes Zn(Salicylidene-aniline)2 (1) and Zn(Salicylidene-p-methylaniline)2 (2) have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction method. Complex 1 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 with unit cell parameters of a=0.949 5(2) nm, b=1.075 8(2) nm, c=1.234 3(3) nm, α=68.318(3)°, β=67.882(3)°, γ=78.316(3)°, V=1.082 4(4) nm3, Z=2, Dc=1.405 Mg·m-3, F(000)=472, μ=1.160 mm-1. Complex 2 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with unit cell parameters of a=2.184 5(5) nm, b=0.879 05(19) nm, c=1.198 8(3) nm, β=96.563(3)°, V=2.287 0(9) nm3, Z=4, Dc=1.411 Mg·m-3, F(400)=1 008, μ=1.102 mm-1. From the fluorescence spectra of complexes 1 and 2 in CH3OH and C2H5OH, one can see that these complexes are photoluminescent with the emission peaks corresponding to n-π* transition of metal-perturbed intraligand, respectively.
