Abstract: Two compounds, [Cd2(e,e-trans-chdc)2(bipy)2(H2O)2]·H2O (1) and [Mn2(e,a-cis-chdc)2(phen)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (2) (chdc=cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid, bipy=dipyridyl and phen=1,10-phenanthroline), have been obtained by hydrothermal method and characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The two complexes are binuclear complexes. In complex 1, two Cd(Ⅱ) cations are bridged by 1,2-chdc with e,e-trans-conformation. Each Cd(Ⅱ) cation is seven-coordinated to two nitrogen atoms of bipy molecule, four oxygen atoms of two 1,2-chdc ligands and one oxygen atom of water molecule, forming distorted mono-capped trigonal-prism. In complex 2, two Mn(Ⅱ) cations are bridged by 1,2-chdc with e,a-cis-conformation. Each Mn(Ⅱ) cation is six-coordinated to two nitrogen atoms of phen molecule, three oxygen atoms of two 1,2-chdc ligands and one oxygen atom of water molecule, forming distorted octahedron coordination environment. The π-π stacking and O-H…O and C-H…O hydrogen bonds in the two complexes result in 3D supramolecular networks. Fluorescence spectra of the two complexes are assigned to π*-π of ligand.
